OS 6" map (1900)

An underground passage constructed of stone, some 20.0m long, opening into an octagonal building, now de-roofed, giving a view of the Falls of Acharn, and clearly built for that purpose. Local tradition asserts that it was the home of a hermit, and it is known as 'The Hermitage', but it is more likely an 18th - 19th century folly.

Visited by OS (NKB), 2 October 1975 .
