Archaeology Notes

NM04SW 37 centred 0425 4495

A small radio station with three possible gun-emplacements has been identified from a WW II veritical air photograph (NLA 21, 301, flown 19 November 1941), immediately W of the junction of the B 8065 and B 8068 roads at Scarinish. Visible on the photograph are the shadows of two masts and what appears to be an arc of three gun-emplacements immediately to the W. On the E side of the junction is another building, taller then the others, which may also be connected with this installation.

The area around this installation is still shown on the OS 1:10000 scale map as a rectangular enclosure.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), April 2003
