(Area centred: NN 4136 3267) Eight roofless buildings shown, in 1901 (OS 6" map)
but only four and two sheepfolds shown in 1867 (OS 6" map).
The remains of a settlement consisting of at least four rectangular buildings, two fanks and several small enclosures. All the buildings are on the west side of the stream and are of dry stone constuction with walls now standing to a maximum height of 1.6m.
This settlement seems to be later than the numerous shielings that are on either side of the stream at this point. The shielings vary in plan from circular to rectangular and are all of dry stone walling up to 0.7m high. The greatest concentration is at NN 4142 3260 where there is a close group of 18 shielings of both types.
Visited by OS (GHP), 9 July 1962.
No change.
Visited by OS (RD), 14 August 1969.
Four unroofed buildings which may be shieling-huts and two enclosures, each annotated 'Sheepfold', are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perthshire 1867, sheet lxxviii).
Nineteen unroofed buildings some of which may be shieling-huts are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1992).
