Archaeology Notes

NR64NE 50 6913 4900

What may be an observation tower has been identified from vertical air photographs (RAF CPE/Scot/UK 278, 4023-4024, flown 25 August 1947) at point about 350m SE of Rhunahaorine Point. The tower is probably connected to the possible bombing range (NR74NW 32) which is situated about 1000m to the NE.

The tower is not depicted on the OS 10000 scale map (1991) which shows only a small enclosure at this location, suggesting that it may have been removed since 1947.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), March 2003
