Archaeology Notes

NO51SE 62.03 centred 55939 11106

A group of five blister aircraft hangars situated at the SW corner of the airfield and all set within blast banks, are visible on postwar vertical air photographs (RAF 106G/Scot/UK5, 3203, 4201, flown 14 April 1946).

OS map and other evidence (M Fife 2003) would suggest one survives in skeletal form and the bases of the others are also shown on the current maps.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), January 2004.
