Archaeology Notes

NN17SW 15 c.112 749

In 1986 two timbers were partially exposed by erosion in the S bank of the River Lochy near its entrance into Loch Linnhe. They were uncovered and examined with a view to their being possible logboats, but were found to be heart-rotted and heavily-indurated oak trunks which retained 'many knots and branch stumps'. They bore no evidence of human workmanship.

R J C Mowat 1996.

Information from Mr J Barber; NMRS MS/438.
