Archaeology Notes

NX07NE 45.08 centred on NX 0682 7732

A drystone dyke, depicted on the OS first edition map (Ayrshire, Sheet LXIX, 1857) and 1:10000 (1979) map, was investigated during the course of survey and monitoring work connected with cable laying operations. The ruinous wall formed a disused field boundary aligned NE-SW which had largely collapsed and was overgrown, appearing as a linear mound on the ground surface. It was partially cleared and recorded during topsoil stripping operations. No further deposits of archaeological interest were encountered.
