Archaeology Notes ( - 1973)

NN00NE 3 0869 0811

NN 087 081. This cairn measures 26' by 29' by 2'; it has a tree growing near its centre, and the kerb is traceable in places.

M Campbell 1961; M Campbell and M Sandeman 1964.

NN 0870 0813: As described. A wet ditch around its base is modern.

Surveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (DWR) 9 March 1973.

Activities

Field Visit (April 1981)

Situated about 100m WSW of NN00NE 2, this cairn measures 8m in diameter and 1m in height. At its centre there is a large oak tree, and the cairn, which has had many field-cleared stones dumped on it, is flanked on the E by a modern ditch.

RCAHMS 1988, visited April 1981.
