A barrage balloon mooring site is visible on post-war RAF vertical air photographs (106G/UK 1326, 5013-14, flown 28 March 1946) in a field to the SE of Welldean Cottages. The mooring position is only visible as a cropmark.
The site was one of several barrage balloon sites situated around Rosyth Dockyard to assist in the air defences.
