Summary Record (23 February 2012)

Designed by Dunfermline architect, John Fraser, 1921-4. Opened 4th August 1924.

Built on a large corner site and faced in red brick, the Alhambra was the largest of the theatres and cinemas in Dunfermline in the early C20th. Built as a theatre cinema with a large stage and fly tower, it performed mostly as a cinema, perhaps due to the existence of the Opera House (now demolished, stage and interior now in Sarasota, Florida USA), though hosting some theatre performances. The theatre was built with an simple, but grand interior with some quality period decoration.

Restored in 2008, now again a venue for live performance.
