OS 1:10,000 map, (1976)
Cairn (probable), Bunessan: The remains of what has probably been a large burial-cairn are situated on level ground close to the Bunessan War Memorial. All that now survives is a low circular spread of stones measuring about 21m across and 1m in greatest height. A considerable quantitiy of stones survives round the periphery, but the centre is grass-grown and only a few stones are visible; others, however, can be felt beneath the turf. Round the NW and SW sectors of the perimeter there are at least twelve large boulders, nine of them earthfast, which appear to have belonged to an original kerb.
RCAHMS 1980, visited 1973.
The remains of a cairn, as described by the RCAHMS (1980). According to local information two cists, one central, the other on the E, were encountered when it was planned to erect the war memorial at this site.
Surveyed at 1:2500.
Visited by OS (JP) 4 May 1974.
