Archaeology Notes

NL94NW 4 9422 4710.

(Area NL 942 470) A dun has stood upon Cnoc Charrastaoin, a rocky hillock, upon the west of whose summit 12 yds of a semi-circular wall of quite small stones could be traced.

Several flints and two fragments of pottery were found on the surface.

E Beveridge 1903.

At approx NL 9422 4710, on the rocky summit of Cnoc Charrastaoin, is a slight turf-covered bank 1.5m wide composed of small stones. To the N are three boulders which may represent a wall face thus giving an overall diameter of 9.0m.

No other artificial work is visible and there is insufficient evidence to be certain that these are the remains of a dun.
