36 High Street, late 17th century

Smart town house entered through a round stair-turret at the rear. Harling (picked off) would reveal the inherent geometry of this lovely building: dressed stone frame running up the sides and across the top and acting in counterpoint to the window reveals. Refurbished, 1970, Gordon Duncan Somerville.

Taken from "West Lothian: An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Stuart Eydmann, Richard Jaques and Charles McKean, 2008. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
