....bridge of Scuan in the township of Corston, adjoining
the site of the old house of Scuan. Built into upper side of
bridge is a carved stone bearing the initals and date I.L. 1694
(sketch) and two carved human faces.
About 8ft wide.....upper half having two eyes each about 3ft
wide 2.5ft high - square headed and lower section arched and the
same breadth and height. Doubtless bridge has been widened at
some time and the upper section that bears the inscripted stone
may be older. [R1]
400 yards N of house of Scuan and S of Nessbreck
....central pier of irregular shape, and the openings on one side
are arched, while those on the other side are lintelled... roadway
.... increased to present width of 10ft 9in, as it oversails the
substructure, its outer edges being supported on flagstones, one
of which bears the initials and date IL 1694... 3.5in height. At
each end of the inscription is carved a human head. [R2]
