Publication Account (1995)

The Lugar Bridge (or Stepends Bridge) figure 14.K, over which traffic crossed the Lugar to enter the Square via Lugar Street figure 19 at the north-west, is an early nineteenth-century structure, replacing an original stone one built in the eighteenth century. It was near here that the Stepends Ford originally gave access to the town.

Information from ‘Historic Cumnock: The Archaeological Implications of Development’ (1995).
