Archaeology Notes

ND35NW 27.01 3174 5686

A roofless type 27 pillbox survives at the entrance to Skitten Airfield. The pillbox is visible on RAF wartime vertical air photographs (NLA 57, 5088-9, flown 21 February 1943) on the N side of the road.

Visited by RCAHMS, August 1999

The pillbox has been misidentified and is a 'Norcon' type constructed from a section concrete pipe.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), October 2004
