The asset consists of the former location of Rawyards Brickworks. The company owners Alex Frew & Co. operated two brickworks to the east of Airdrie in Lanarkshire. Rawyards Brick Works commenced working in the late 19th century, whilst the Drumbathie Brickworks to the south of Rawyards was in production from the early 20th century. The industrial works is first depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1899 and is visible on subsequent editions until 1956. This would indicate that the works had fallen out of use by this date. The area is now occupied by a modern garage and industrial estate.
