Originally located at the cross, where Main Street, Bank Street, West Canal Street and Sunnyside Road meet. The monument was moved c.46m to the E, sometime between the published dates of the OS 1:2500 map (1966) and (1971) to its current location (NS 73126 65102) at the W end of Main Street.
