Opened in 1930 as The Rutland cinema and able to seat over 2,000 people. Closed in 1950, only to reopen almost immediately as The Gaumont with seating reduced to under 2,000. The cinema closed after being very badly damaged by fire in 1963, being demolished in 1966.
