Photographs taken in the 1970s and held by the NMRS show the buildings which overlook the south-west part of The Square in Tomintoul.
Towards the junction with Main Street, this quarter of The Square is occupied by a row of two-storeyed shops and houses. They are built in typical local style, featuring slated roofs and fronted with coursed rubble masonry.
Standing at the north-east end of the row, at the junction with Main Street, is a building which, at the time of this photograph, was occupied by Campbell's Corner Store. It is entered by a doorway set into the turreted corner of the building. A clock in the conical roof of the turret may be a later addition.
