The findspot of a cist at HY 3483 0561 was pointed out by Mr Bichan, (farmer) of Swanbister House, Orphir, nr Kirkwall, Orkney, who found it while deep ploughing c.1945. Although the dimensions were not reported, from his description it would appear to have been a long cist.
The find was reported to the late Dr Hugh Marwick, who examined it. The cist contained the skeleton of an adult person. Eventually the cist was destroyed by subsequent ploughing and the hole filled in.
