(NJ 8239 1369) Standing Stone (NR)

OS 6" map (1928)

The Scottsmill standing stone 'is noticeable from the perfect flatness of its summit, which has a rudely-triangular outline, and measures due north and south 23 inches...The base is an oblong of 21 inches by 13 inches, and girths 5 feet 8 inches. The stone is quite vertical, and 4 feet 4 inches in height.'

Visited by OS (EGC) 8 November 1961.

This standing stone is situated on a steep NE-facing slope at an altitude of 88m OD.

NMRS, MS/712/79.

This stone, which stood at the southern edge of a cultivated field 400m SE of Cairntradlin farmsteading (NJ81SW 62), has been removed.
