Auchorachan steading probably dates to the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century. The 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map of Banffshire (1874) shows the steading as comprising several roofed buildings, a large garden and a mill dam. The steading is shown on the 1972 Ordnance Survey 1:10000 map, although the mill dam is not shown.
