Archaeology Notes

NJ75SW 11 c.72 50.

A stone axe hammer, measuring 10 5/16 inches by 3 9/16 inches by 3 3/8 inches from Turriff was donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland [NMAS] by the Hon Lady Binning via James S Richardson.

Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1932.

This is presumably the unfinished Class I axe-hammer that is held in the Royal Museum of Scotland under accession number NMS AH 191. It has been petrologically identified as coarse metasandstone.
