Archaeology Notes

NS55SW 79.01 5406 5237

NS 54 53 An archaeological survey was carried out as part of an ongoing project on a farm by farm basis. The majority of features described are previously unrecorded.

NS 5406 5237 WW2 anti-aircraft gun emplacement remains.

A full report will be lodged with the NMRS and WoSAS.

J Brassington, R L Hunter and S L Hunter 2000.

The area is visible on vertical air phtographs taken in 1945 (106G/UK1025: 4312 and 4313) taken on 26 November 1945. No evidence can be seen on the photographs for the 'anti aircraft gun emplacement remains' , however the placing of such a site amongst the installations for a Starfish decoy site is not unkown, other examples being found in Scotland.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), May 2008.
