OS 6" map, (1959)
Tullos House: The 5' to 10' high ruins of a 16th century building which is locally known as Tullos Castle (ONB 1867), but whose architecture suggests it has been more domestic than defensive. It was occupied until the end of the 18th century.
Name Book 1867.
'Tullos House', the remains of a probably late 16th century laird's house, originally on the 'L' plan. According to Mrs McWilliam (Tullos) the NW wing was pulled down about 30 years ago. The existing rectangular remains, of little architectural merit, measure 18.5m N-S by 6.0m over walls 1.0m thick, standing to a maximum height of about 4.5m at the S gable. Part of a door jamb (probably the entrance) is still visible in the former re-entrant angle on the NW. The N end has been utilised as a garage and the remaining interior is full of debris.
