Archaeology Notes

NJ72NW 60 7045 2569

Formerly also entered as NJ72NW 78 at cited location NJ 705 256.

Air photography (AAS/94/11/G21/5-7) has recorded a ring-ditch.

NMRS, MS/712/21.

(Location cited as NJ 705 257). Air photography (RCAHMS 1976 and AAS/94/10-11/G21/5, flown 1 July 1994) has recorded the cropmarks of at least one ring-ditch in arable ground on a N-facing river terrace at an altitude of about 83m OD.

NMRS, MS/712/69.

Cropmarks on an aerial photograph have revealed a ring-ditch on a terrace on the right (S) bank of the River Urie, some 150m SSW of the ruins of Logie House (NJ72NW 5.00). The ring-ditch measures about 10m in diameter overall and is apparently broken by a wide gap in the ditch on the SE.

Information from RCAHMS (JRS), 9 September 2003.
