OS 6" map, (1959)
In 1845 there was a small enclosure, apparently a burial ground, and within it the remains of a chapel, believed to be Roman Catholic because a nearby well was known as The Lady's or Our Lady's Well, and because a silver crucifix was found at the spot when workmen were digging the foundations of a mausoleum about 1800. In 1867 there were no remains of the chapel or burial ground and The Lady's or Our Lady's Well had been filled up, though water still flowed from it.
