Archaeology Notes

NJ71SE 22 7982 1380.

NJ 797 139. Boghead: an elongated earthen mound of regular profile. 50 ft (15.2m) long N-S, 24ft (7.3m) wide at the W end and 18ft (5.5m) wide near the E end. The mound has rounded ends, is made apparently entirely from earth, and is 5 ft (1.5m) high.

A A Woodham 1963.

There is no trace of an earthen mound in this area, but there is an earthen mound of about the same dimensions in the area centred at NJ 7982 1380. There is nothing to suggest that this is an antiquity.

Visited by OS (RD) 8 January 1965.
