Archaeology Notes

NJ71NE 23 c. 778 164.

Two flint, barbed and tanged arrowheads, and one leaf-shaped flint arrowhead from the moor between Kintore and the old castle of Hallforest were purchased, in 1865, from Mrs Watt, Townhead, Kintore, by the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS).

Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1868.

The area mentioned by PSAS (1868) is probably Burgh Muir (NJ 778 164) which is now afforested, and there is no local knowledge of recent finds.
