On top of Robin's Height there used to be '..large stones, with inscriptions on them, now all broken down and carried away...'

Statistical Account (OSA) 1791-9.

At one time there were immense masses of large stones, some inscribed, at the foot of Robin's Height. Some years ago entrenchments were visible on the Heights which have been described variously as Roman and Mediaeval.

New Statistical Account (NSA) 1845.

This is the camp to which Bruce is alleged to have been brought when sick, in 1308.

A Jervise 1875-9.

During the Battle of Slioch (December 1307) Bruce lay ill at Sliach, in the parish of Drumblade, in a camp which his followers had formed and entrenched.
