In 1998 a railway viaduct near Wooden Mill was demolished to make way for the new Kelso by-pass.
Until the 1960s, Kelso was an important stop on the St Boswells to Tweedmouth railway. This viaduct, formerly situated on the eastern edge of Maxwellheugh, carried the double line over the Wooden Dean, a gully through which the Wooden Burn flows.

Forming part of the St. Boswells to Tweedmouth railway, this rubble-built three-arched railway viaduct carried the double ling over the 'Wooden Dean', through which the 'Wooden Burn' flows. It was due to be demolished shortly after the RCAHMS photographic survey was completed, February 1998, to make way for new Kelso bypass.
Visited by RCAHMS (MKO), February 1998.
The current edition of the OS (GIS) MasterMap indicates that this viaduct has been demolished.
