John Aitken Memorial Drinking Fountain, Govan Cross, 1884, Cruickshank & Co., Denny Iron Works

Cast-iron drinking fountain of a boy on a rock, in an upturned dish. Cast-iron fish-scale dome roofed canopy, on hexagonal arcade, embellished with inward-facing mythological beasts, carrying plaques of the Arms of Govan and of Masonic and Oddfellow symbols. Dedicated to John Aitken, a local doctor who became the Burgh Medical Officer of Health.
