(HY 2938 1942) Gogeraback Tumulus {NR} (Site of)

OS 6" map, Orkney, 2nd ed., (1903).

The site of a mound, possibly 45 ft or more in diameter, lies about 130 yds S. of Howaback in the Hourston district, near the east shore of the north end of the Loch of Harray.

A cist containing burnt bones, and in other respects very similar to that in the neighbouring mound at Howaback (HY21NE 32 - Small square cist of stones in mound), is said to have been exposed in the course of cultivation.

The site was noted as a low much-spread rise if indefinite size, in a field under crop.
