Not to be confused with military accommodation camp for the WW II Heavy Anti-Aircraft battery, centred at NS 2603 9008, for which see NS29SE 6, or Garelochhead Military Training Camp (centred NS 2450 9025), for which see NS29SW 27.

Admiralty Research Laboratory incorporating the Admiralty Hydrobalistic Research Establishment (ARLE, ARE and DRA) in Glen Fruin. The concrete and brick buildings include a water entry test tank for bombs and torpedoes with a capacity for 250,000 gallons of water measuring 150ft x 30ft x 40ft with associated rigs. Also noted at the site were work shops, offices and several supplementary buildings including a filter house.

The World War II Torpedo Testing Station is situated to the NW of Strone House. There are several buildings and water tanks extant and the site is now used by Territorial Army units.
