Accessing Scotland's Past Project

The remains of a post-medieval farmstead survive on a terrace overlooking the River Avon at Keppoch.

The farmstead is made up of three rectangular buildings. The largest of these still retains its roof. The most southerly building has a small enclosure attached.

It is likely that these buildings were abandoned comparatively recently, as one in particular survives in unusually good condition. All three of the buildings are shown as roofed structures in the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey map of Banffshire (1874. At that time, the farmstead was still annotated with its Gaelic name, 'Ceapach'.
