NH95NE 6 c. 99 55.

A bag-type LBA socketed axe found in the neighbourhood of Darnaway (NH 99 55) was purchased for the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1902 (DE 66).

Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1902; J M Coles 1962.

(Alford variant of Highfield type). Newton of Darnaway, Edinkillie, Morayshire. Single find. Socketed axe, rough black-green surface, untrimmed, haft-ribs. Length 76mm, mouth 29x33mm, cutting edge 69mm, weight 260 gms. NMAS DE 66.
