Photographic survey of the exterior and interior of Ferntower, Perthshire, and the stables by the Scottish National Buildings Record in 1962. The house was demolished shortly after.

The country house stood immediately E of the now derelict stable block (NN82SE 62.01), but no visible remains survive. The house is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perthshire 1866, sheet xcv) and is described in the Name Book as a 'fine mansion situated at the foot of the Knock of Crieff, it is three stories in height, slated and in good repair. Property of Lord Abercrombie'.
