Archaeology Notes

NG20NE 43 2731 0551

The house at Tighard was built by Robert Thom in 1905, and the woodland behind it dates from around the same time. The house faces south, where there is a terraced garden offering fine views across the harbour to Sanday. It is one-and-a half storeys high and has a hipped slate roof. The frontage has three bays, that on the W incorporating a full-height bay window, and is harled and whitewashed with sandstone dressings, which are painted black; the central door has a porch. It is currently let by the National Trust for Scotland as a holiday home.

Visited by RCAHMS (ARG), 16 August 1996.
