Archaeology Notes

NH59SE 8 59 90.

Less than 1/2 mile from Cnoc Ruigh Griag (NH 592 903) is Carn Deasgan which is apparently the remains of a broch. Near it are numerous mounds.

W J Watson 1904.

Enquiries in and around Ardgay failed to locate Carn Deasgan; the name was unknown to those questioned - (but see NH59SE 9).

Visited by OS (W D J) 23 May 1963.

NH59 1 CARN DEASGAN ('Ardgay', ‘Argay’)

c. NH/59 90

Site of possible broch in Kincard-ine, Sutherland, recorded in 1904 as "probably the remains of a broch" [2] but not located in 1963 [1]. It is possible that this description may refer to the unfinished fort at NH/592903 (NMRS site NH 59 SE 9).
