Archaeology Notes

NN00SE 28 unlocated

The Edinburgh Phil. Journ. vol. xi (1820) notes the first Scottish specimen of bog butter in a sample of 'mountain tallow' found 'on the shores of Loch Fyne'.

W I Macadam 1882.

Location cited as NN 08 04. Lost?

NMRS, MS/996/1.

The location cited by Hunter appears to be unsubstantiated and the arbitrary assignment of a mapsheet and parish is accordingly highly misleading. Loch Fyne extends from NR 89 82 to NN 19 12.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 18 March 1998.
