Archaeology Notes

ND36SW 36 c. 34 61

An amber bead, possibly associated with a bone pin with a square ornamented head, a rudely-shaped whorl of steatite, a cylindrical bead of black glass and a ring of jet, from a mound on Keiss Moor, is in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS, Accession no. FL13).

The bead is a medium-sized, flat, thin disk with rounded edges, circular in cross-section and rounded rectangular in longitudinal section. It measures 17mm in diameter and 8mm in thickness.
