Archaeology Notes

NH51NW 10 5209 1762.

At NH 5209 1762, the temporary lowing of the level Loch Garth has revealed a crannog of bare rubble stones. When seen by the F.I. it protruded c. 1.2m above water level, and appeared to measure about 12.0m in diameter. Some 80 metres NE, on what was probably the original shoreline, is a band of rubble c. 2.0m wide and 10.0m long leading to a large boulder. This may be a collapsed jetty of uncertain period.
