Archaeology Notes

NH30NE 13 38 08.

The motte built at Abertarff, at the southern end of Loch Ness (NH 3808) by the Berwickshire baron Thomas of Thirlestane was attacked by the native population in 1228. Thomas was slain and his castle razed.
