Lime Kiln [NAT]

OS 1:10,000 map, 1972.

Nothing is now visible of this limekiln which is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, sheet lxviii, 1869; sheet lxviii, 1902).

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 21 May 1997.

(Location cited as NJ 2585 0872). This limekiln was formerly situated at the foot of an NNE-facing slope in agricultural ground at an altitude of 400m OD. It was noted as being disused and beginning to deteriorate in February 1987, and was apparently destroyed during earthmoving operations during the course of the replacement of the Cock Bridge (NJ20NE 26) in 1991.

NMRS, MS/712/41, visited 29 July 1992.
