Accessing Scotland's Past Project

The Rising Sun cottage lies 300m south-west of Allargue House, in the upper part of the Don Valley. It was probably built in the nineteenth century, to provide accommodation for hunting and shooting parties. The name may refer to the coat-of-arms of a local family, the McHardys, which bears a rising sun.
