Archaeology Notes

NJ02SW 20 NJ 0276 2276.

An unroofed building lying within an enclosure is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet xlviA), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1976).

Information from RCAMHS (SAH) 18 July 1996.

This building is situated in woodland 130m S of the house at Backharn (NJ02SW 19). Rectangular on plan, it measures about 9m from NNE to SSW by 4m transversely over low, grass-grown footings; the position of the entrance is not apparent. The building, which sits within a small enclosure, is depicted unroofed on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet XLVIA; 1902, sheet XLVIA).

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 28 September 2006.
