Now demolished.
Conn's Close is named in RMS (Register of the Great Seal of Scotland, Vols I-XI) 1620 and on Rothiemay 1647, evidently for John Con, flesher, who is mentioned in Town Council Minutes 1508 and noted in "Protocols of John Foular" 1529 as an owner on the south side of the High Street. An alternative name was Steele's Close, but nothing is known about it. The close seems to have lost its direct entry from the High Street in the mid eighteenth century, adn most of it was swept away when Tron Square was developed in 1899, but a fragment of its south entry remains in the Cowgate.
