At Clachan, about 500 yards SW of the Free Church of Staffin, at an elevation of 200' above sea level, is a rocky knoll rising some 25' above the surrounding ground and tailing away toward the W. The summit is the site of Dun Smail, of which the only remains now visible are the scanty fragments of a wall on the western flank.

Dun Smail, Clachan.
