Archaeology Notes

HP60SW 13 6080 0231.

HP 608 024 (C S T Calder 1965) The Knowe of Hoversta, at the south end of the Loch of Hoversta, has been referred to as the site of a large cairn (J T Irvine) but the remains now visible are extremely scanty and there original character could not be determined. They impinge upon what is left of an old dyke or boundary, and present no regular outline. RCAHMS 1946, visited 1933

No intelligble remains of this alleged cairn, at HP 6080 0231. Although the name is still known locally, there is no "knowe" here.
